Experience, Education and Endorsements
Bike Fitting, Bike Buying Advice and Cycling and Triathlon Mentoring are not recognized or regulated services. As such anyone can call themselves a Bike Fitter, create a website and offer these services. The IBFI (see below) are doing a great job of bringing a professional standard in to place but its a complex and slow process so until formalised, how can you be reassured that the service you are getting is a good one?
Experience
Having come from a highly regulated industry, Automotive Engineering, and spent the majority of my 20+ year career in arguably the most critical area, Occupant and Pedestrian Safety, solving complex problems to the benefit of my customers and meeting legal and legislated requirements is second nature to me.
Three of the most significant successes in my Engineering Career were:
-
Achieving Full Vehicle Engineering Sign-Off for the fist ever Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) vehicle manufactured in China.
-
Leading the team that delivered the first ever Euro-NCAP 5* rating including Pedestrian Safety for a Full Size SUV.
-
Resolving the biggest warranty issue in the Safety Team using the very same quality processes such as 6-Sigma and DMAIC that underpins Precision Cycle Fit's bike fit methodology.

As a Senior Manager and Chief Engineer I have led teams of up to 10 engineering managers and 80 professional engineers. During this time I was well know for delivering targets by getting the best out of my team. I often achieved the highest employee satisfaction results and was the first person to be awarded the JLR Mentor of the Year award in 2011. This was awarded in partnership with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the Professional Body for Mechanical and Automotive Engineers.

I was also Jaguar's Ambassador to the Princes Trust and spent 4 months as a volunteer Project Manager building Schools in Borneo with the people development charity, Raleigh International.

You can find out more about my professional experience by viewing my LinkedIn profile here.

In addition to these technical and people skills, I also have a plethora of cycling and triathlon experience ranging from commuting to work in a cold, wet and dirty British winter, to overseas cycle touring, to representing Great Britain at two Xterra Triathlon World Championships. Find out more here.
Education
I have a B/Eng DIS degree in Automotive Engineering, gained way back in 1998 from Loughborough University.

In 2023, prior to launching Precision Cycle Fit as Limited Company Number 14754522, I undertook a 2-day bike fitting course with Mike Veal, founder of Bike Dynamics in Leamington Spa and one of the first bike fitters in the UK to use Dynamic Video Analysis. I had previously had two bike fits (on 5 bikes) with Mike so knew his protocol, based on sound engineering principles and processes, aligned with what I wanted to do. It was nice when Mike said halfway through "...I can tell you know all this...". Obviously I didn't (and still don't) know it all, but its reassuring none-the-less to hear that from someone who has conducted thousands of bike fits over many years.

In 2024, I became a member of the International Bike Fitting Institute (IBFI) and undertook a further 2-day training course with their President, Lee Prescott. Again it was reassuring to note that what I was doing was aligned with the standard that our international body is promoting. As part of my Continuous Professional Development with the IBFI, I successfully completed the Level 2 Training in November 2025. You can view my IBFI profile here.
Endorsements
Experience and Education demonstrate the potential to be good at something, but at the end of the day it all comes down to what Customers and Partners say.

I have over 35 independent 5-star Google reviews. Its not just the 5-star bit that is important, but its also the diversity of customers and what they say: whether you are a newbie triathlete or an experienced cyclist, I will tailor my approach to you and your needs. Don't just take my word for it - type Precision Cycle Fit in to Google and see what my customers say in their own words.

Whilst establishing Precision Cycle Fit, I approached many of the local Cycling and Triathlon Clubs, Shops and Coaches. From this I struck up a great relationship with Dave Knight, founder of the highly regarded triathlon coaching business Do3. After meeting several times, establishing that our ethos and quality customer services were aligned, Dave observed me conducting two bike fits on a newbie Do3 client, and his head coach, a very successful age-group Triathlete. I was very proud when in July 2024, Dave asked me to become Do3's Bike Fit Partner. Read what Dave had to say on announcing this partnership on the Do3 website here.
